Born Edward Michael Grylls. Earned a black belt in Shotokan karate as a teenager. Member of the United Kingdom Special Forces. Lived through a broken back after a freefall parachuting accident. 18 months later became youngest Brit to summit Mt. Everest. Endured 125 degree and -55 degree temperatures. Survived in all 7 continents. Returned to filming 2 months after breaking his shoulder in Antarctica. Has sons named Jesse, Marmaduke, and Huckleberry. Consumes raw zebra, rats, piranha and water from elephant crap.
