Artificial Moon

Artificial Moon is a sculptural piece by Beijing-based artist Wang Yuyangconstructed from hundreds of various compact fluorescent lightbulbs. At over 13 ft. wide (400cm) the piece is an imposing recreation of Earth’s moon, using strategically placed lights to mimic craters and other surface features. Its creation is also particularly poignant, as it was originally put on exhibit in Shanghai, a city that due to light pollution is often unable witness the actual moon moving through the night sky. Pat Perry

via juxtapoz.com
We found some great new work put out by Pat Perry, an artist and illustrator who calls Grand Rapids, Michigan home. In between showing his art from coast to coast or working with an assortment of clients, Pat travels as much as possible. Although he is happy to be able to speak and have an audience through his artwork, he does his best everyday to listen and learn from the world he lives in. His series of sketchbook drawings reflect this beautifully as well.

Cool Xray captures

Proposition One by Max Esteban via paranoias.org A selection of always interesting and eye-catching x-ray captures of electronic devices by the Spanish photographer Max Esteban in set entitled “Proposition One: Only The Ephemeral”. “Proposition One depicts obsolete technology products for producing and communicating art. The series of images have an x-ray, mortuary quality; as forensic testimonies of a past existence; vestiges of their inner structure can be clearly identified while others fade or have disappeared as in decomposing organic bodies. By eliminating the objects’ individual peculiarities, each photograph becomes a generic symbol of decay and death. While sophisticated and state-of-the-art not long ago, these tools evoke today a sense of fragility, archaism and trauma.” The complete series is available here.
